Houston indie band Second Lovers have been making beautiful noise around town in one form or another since 2010. Despite several personnel changes and setbacks along the way, Second Lovers veterans, lead singer and guitarist Nicolas Morales and guitarist Thomas Truver have remained dedicated and determined to stay loyal to the band’s musical origins, its hometown, and its fans with an eye on always moving forward.

With a new album on the horizon, Second Lovers is poised to usher in a new beginning for the band. They’re turning it up a notch and pushing ahead with a solid, creatively and personally compatible band lineup and an amped up classic rock sound anchored by their indie rock, Americana roots.

There’s an enduring sense of synchronicity with Second Lovers’ revamped sound and direction, as there often is when it comes to music from the heart. It’s a spiritual thread connecting the band’s history to the possibilities which lie ahead. It can be heard echoed in the words of legendary Texas singer and songwriter Townes Van Zandt’s “Second Lovers Song,” the inspiration behind the band’s name.

Would your words be sweeter then Upon November's wind If you began again…”

Having heard some of the unreleased songs slated for the upcoming Second Lovers album, Van Zandt’s lyric rings true. The words and the music are sweeter. Click here to listen to the sweeter sound of “Cornerstone” by Second Lovers.

You can be part of this new beginning and see and hear Second Lovers play some of their new music this Friday, May 1 at the House of Blues, where along with fellow Houston musician Adam Bricks, they will open for College Station rockers, The Docs who will be playing their own EP release show.

Second Lovers is Nicolas Morales - vocals and guitar, Chelsea Renee - vocals, Josh Hammond - drums, Sean Spiller - bass, Thomas Truver - guitar, John "Butch Rambo" Maxwell - banjo, mandolin, and percussion.
