There's just something about a thoughtfully placed, non-gratuitous F-word in a song that adds that extra punch and increases its visceral impact. Not just any occurrence will work in a song. It has to be more than just for effect or to serve as lazy punctuation. For it to be meaningful, it has to be an organic part of the moment. It must propel the narrative, the mood, and tone of the song, not disrupt or distract from it, or it won't be authentic and sincere. If it's only dropped in as a prop to convey a contrived badge of rebellion, then it is just a marketing gimmick. And, despite what corporate-owned radio would have you believe, there's no place in real music for marketing. Save that strategy for commercial jingles and pop stars and let the real music tell its story in a language that will be heard and understood.
The following eleven songs are just a sample of music available in the Key of F. Some are subtle and some overt, but they all ratchet up the emotion of the song and allow you to identify with and feel the angst and frustration of being wronged in some way - whether by a person, society, the system, authority, life, nature or even oneself. Listen to the songs below and maybe they will get you through some life frustrations of your own.
